About Us

We keep a small flock of sheep which provide meat for the house and fleece for Karen to spin and dye. Karen is active in the local Spinners', Dyers' and Weavers' Guild, and is happy to share the knowledge. The free-range hens provide the eggs that our guests can enjoy for their breakfast, together with fresh home baked organic bread, home-made jams and fruits from the garden. Most of our food is produced without artificial fertilisers or chemicals.

Guests are welcome to make themselves at home and to enjoy the garden and summer house with its wonderful views. Interested visitors can experience first-hand farm life in one of the most rural parts of Britain.

Upper Middle Road Farm has been awarded Level 2 for:

	Reducing and monitoring energy consumed thus reducing carbon dioxide produced with a commitment to prevent pollution. We have solar heating.
	Replacing the existing oil fired boiler with a log burning batch fired boiler.
	Reducing water consumption and saving rainwater whenever possible.
	Recycling waste.
	Growing as much food as possible organically thus reducing pollution, buying other foods locally or in bulk thus reducing transportation mileage.
	Providing guests with information of local walks, amenities and activities.
	Providing cycles for guests' use.
	Aiming to continually improve our environmental impacts and update our policy.
	Aiming to comply with relevant environmental legislation.
